The "secret" of Stock-still is actually simple; hundreds of people have tried to tame recoil. All of these attempts can be referred to as prior art [that is patent speak for everything that has been tried in the past.] They have all failed for one reason; firing a bullet, or any projectile happens in what we call the microsecond realm. From the time the firing pin hits the cartridge, until the bullet is leaving the barrel happens in a very few microseconds. ANY mechanical method devices to stop recoil happens in a matter of milliseconds. A millisecond contains 1,000 microseconds. Every single attempt to "capture" that recoil happens LONG AFTER the recoil has come and gone! This is the classic case of closing the barn door after the cow is long down the road. The Stock-still patent calls for a mechanical device to start acting BEFORE the recoil has started. We call this anticipatory action. Our mechanical devices have already closed the barn door BEFORE the cow is even awake.
